To help other potential buyers in the future we have compiled some of the most popular questions and answers.

How do I get a hearing test?

You can arrange a hearing test via the NHS or a private hearing aid dispenser. Some companies will provide a hearing test in your own home for convenience. Always ensure that a private company is registered with the Hearing Aid Council, as it is a legal requirement.

How much do they cost?

Prices for hearing aids vary greatly depending on the specification and type. Before considering a hearing aid you need to have a professional hearing test to establish the cause of your hearing loss. If appropriate you will then be given advice on the most suitable hearing aid for you individual needs. Hearing aids are available via the NHS, although you may face a long waiting list. Private hearing aid dispensers can offer fast service and provide a wider choice of hearing aids, prices will vary depending on specification.

Do pensioners get a discount?

Some companies offer discounts to pensioners, however be sure they are ‘’real’’ offers and save you money. Many people chose to get a number of quotes to ensure they are receiving value for money.

Can I insure my hearing aid?

If you buy a hearing aid you can choose to insure it via a specific policy sold by the hearing aid retailer or via your home policy (check terms and conditions).

Will I need to buy batteries?
Nearly all new hearing aids now run of small cell batteries that can be purchased on the high street.

What if my hearing aid needs repairing?

The majority of companies will offer a 12 month guarantee as standard with a new hearing aid with the option of an extended warranty period. Once out of warranty it is sometimes possible to have a hearing aid repaired, normal by the company who supplied it originally.
