There are a number of products which can make living at home easier for the hard of hearing. These products include:
• Wake up alarms
• Door lights
• Smoke Alarms
• Phone signalers
Wake up Alarms
If you wear hearing aids it is likely that you will take them out when you sleep. Therefore an alarm clock for the hard of hearing will be beneficial. These alarms can either vibrate or flash lights, or be very loud. The vibrating alarm can be placed under the pillow or mattress.
Door Alarms
There are various forms of door alarms to signal that there is someone at the door. If you do not wear your hearing aids all the time at home then these can be useful. Some systems will have flashing lights to inform you that there is some one at the door. Others can be wireless pagers and will vibrate when the door transmitter button is pressed.
Smoke Alarms
These alarms can either flash bright lights or emit a very loud sound. Such alarms can be installed professionally or can be purchased ready to be plugged in. A single transmitter can be connected to multiple receivers to alert the home owner throughout the house.
Telephone Phone Signalers
Phone Signalers
Phone signalers operated by a flashing light or very loud ringing. They operate by being connected to the telephone line and then connecting a light to the signaler, which then flashes when a call is received. Remote systems are also available to transmit the phone signal to other rooms.
