Hearing aids are opening a new world to people who are unable to hear or partially hear.
There are a number of different hearing aids available – behind the ear, in the ear and completely in the canal. You can get analogue or digital hearing aids. The majority of hearing aids are usually analogue which were designed before digital.
Most batteries should last about 7-14 days based on 16 hour days. General rule is the shorter the battery the shorter the life expectancy. The different battery sizes available are standardised throughout the industry but be aware there could be different names for the same size.
There are two types of battery currently on the market. The first are supplied in an easy dispense card. Which normally come in packets of 6 or 10. Also available now are the zinc air batteries. They are sealed and will not activate until the sticker has been removed as the battery is air activated. The oxygen contacts with the zinc which then turns the battery on.
Normally the batteries are only switched off when removed from the hearing aid. You need to store the zinc air batteries in a cool place.
